“Relay For Life and Fight Cancer Fest is a cause I’m always excited to play for” says Harmon. “Not only was Relay For Life one of the very first events I ever played for when I was 16, but it is a great cause with hardworking people who do it for no reason other than to help others kick cancer’s butt.”
The Fight Cancer Fest of Central New York will run from noon to 8 p.m. to raise money for the American Cancer Society. Located in the Chevy Court at the fairgrounds, the festival is free and open to members of the public, who are invited to participate in the event’s activities and to donate to the society.
Community development manager Danielle LaTour said the money raised by festival participants will be put towards funding research to end cancer and providing patient access to care including lodging near hospitals. Funds also go to the Look Good Feel Better program, “which helps women deal with the cosmetic side of treatment,” she said.
Fundraising began in October or November last year and will continue until August 31 this year. Pre-registration is encouraged, but participants can sign up to fundraise for the society at the festival. To register, visit www.fightcancerfestcny.org (http://fightcancerfestcny.org/) .
